An organized and supervised after school program for children in kindergarten through 4th grade is available on-site at Stambaugh Elementary. The program has students in grades K-4 located in the lower level.
Activities
The After School Program is activity-based including outside play and/or gym time, games, videos, stories, arts and crafts, library time, and computer time. An education enhancement component for one hour each day will be provided. This time will be set-aside each day for completion of homework and/or hands-on learning activities appropriate to the children attending the program.
An after school snack will be provided by the program; however your child may bring a snack from home to be eaten after school. Donations of snacks are welcome and always appreciated.
Days and Times
The program follows the West Iron County School calendar and operates on days in which school is in session for a half or full day. The After School Program does not operate on holidays, through the Christmas and Easter breaks, and days when school is dismissed early due to inclement weather.
Our After School Program begins from the time of school dismissal at 2:59 p.m. on full days or 11:59 a.m. on half-days until 5:30 p.m. each day for grades K-4 in our building.
Registration and Cost
Students attending the After School Program must have the following completed and on file: Child Information Card (DSS 3731), a copy of a current immunization record, and a parent's statement of the child's good health
A registration fee of $20.00 is charged. The hourly fees for attending the program are $2.75/hour per child ($2.25/hour for each additional child from the same family). If a child attends for a time period less than one hour on any given day, his/her account will be charged one full hour; also, any portion of time that goes beyond 15 minutes after the first hour, the time will be rounded off to the next half hour.
A program from the Family Independence Agency (FIA) is available to help offset child care cots for working parents. Parents are encouraged to call FIA representative at (906) 265-0320 to determine eligibility.
