The West Iron County Public Schools are extremely fo
rtunate to have been named secondary beneficiaries of the Bob Loo Estate. In his will, Mr. Loo provided 2/5ths of the secondary assets as a gift in trust to be administered by a committee composed of the Superintendent of Schools, the High School Principal, and the Elementary Principal. Prior to his death, Mr. Loo expressed a desire to have a vocational addition built at West Iron County High School. Following the sale of a Piper PA-32-300 aircraft, the gift is expected to exceed $200,000.
The Robert H. Loo Vocational Building will house two vocational education programs: Manufacturing Technology/Trades and Drafting/CAD-CAM. The two programs encompass 7 career technical education classes, which were previously taught in separate buildings. The joining of the classes into one building would facilitate the advancement of Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machining projects and other cross-curricular endeavors. Students from both programs will work together on joint projects from the designing phase to the manufacturing of a finished product.
