School is canceled for Tuesday, October 10

Dear Wykon Staff & Families,

School is canceled for Tuesday, October 10, due to threatening comments regarding school safety. This evening, our school resource officer received a report of a threat. It was immediately reported to local law enforcement. Our local law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the report.

The safety and security of our students and staff are always our top priority. As administration and law enforcement communicated throughout the evening, we were prepared to take all the necessary steps to ensure our students' safety. Choosing to cancel school today allows our law enforcement time to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure our student and staff safety.

We will update everyone when we have all the facts pertaining to this investigation.

Please rest assured that we will always err on the side of caution and do whatever it takes to protect our Wykon family. The decision was made late tonight rather than in the morning to allow parents as much time as possible to make child care arrangements due to this unexpected closing.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work through these unfortunate and challenging circumstances.
