Dear Wykon Families,

As we prepare to start a new academic year, we want to welcome all of our returning students and extend a warm welcome to those who are joining West Iron County Schools for the first time. We are excited to start the new year with a renewed mission, vision, and guiding principles to provide a safer and more engaging learning environment for our students and staff.

We also have several new staff members this year, including teachers, coaches, custodians, cooks, and bus drivers. Please go to our website www.westiron.org and look at the staff spotlights to learn more about each of them.

This summer we installed a new state of the art emergency notification system in every classroom, hallway, and common space. We also replaced the roof on our Stambaugh gymnasium, replaced carpeting in classrooms, installed several new exterior

doors, and new classroom furniture for our kindergarten students.

We will also be leveraging more of our technology capabilities and moving towards more paperless communication. So please update your email addresses on your enrollment forms and add the PowerSchool app for parents on your devices to check your students grades and attendance.

We believe that all students can learn, and that all students belong to all of us as we work to improve our academic achievement goals. We also support our students' character development and well-being. We are proud to continue our Capturing Kids Hearts efforts, along with support from our school nurse, school social workers, and a school resource officer. We all work together to improve our school climate and encourage open communication between students, parents, and staff.

Throughout the year we will be hosting various events and extracurricular activities, and providing opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents outside the classroom too. We encourage all students to get involved and make the most of their time as a Wykon. Please check out our school calendar for all our district events.

Parents and guardians, we acknowledge the crucial role you play in your child's education and we look forward to working closely with you to ensure the success of our students.
