Concession area upgrade bid letter

West Iron County Schools is seeking to repurpose and upgrade the gymnasium concessions area. Work includes site demolition/preparation, masonry, casework, electrical, painting, flooring, and cabinetry/shelving.

Project Scope:  Scope of work for the project includes, but not limited to;

1. demolition and masonry work for a new serving counter with a coiling door (approximately 5’8” x 4’), 
2. relocate an existing cabinet heater and reroute piping and fire extinguisher cabinet, 
3. electrical addition to lighting outlets, and minor demo,
4. install approximately 23’ of laminate lower cabinets and countertops and pass-through service area,
5. Painting, and
6. install vinyl flooring in the room.

No ceiling is included. 

Your bid must include the following;

1. Your company’s architectural/engineering/design fee  (__%), if applicable.
2. Your company must submit a Familial Disclosure Affidavit & verify that it is not an Iran-linked business as defined by MCL 129.312
3. Your company is required to include a bid security of 5% of the bid amount.
4. Timeframe - an estimate of start date and completion of the project.  Our Christmas break begins December 19, 2026 through January 3, 2027.
5. Additional information;
   1. No bond proposal involved.
   2. Davis-Beacon prevailing federal wage requirements will NOT be required.
   3. Contractors are to clarify in their bid proposal if any discrepancy in the project schedule foreseen from their perspective.

Sealed bids shall be sent to  West Iron County Schools, 601 Nick Baumgartner Way, Iron River, MI  49935 with “Concessions Area” listed until 2:00 pm (CST) Monday, November 2, 2026.  At that time, bids will be publicly opened.  Bids received after the date and time specified above will not be considered or accepted.

Bids will be opened at the due date/time Monday, November 2, 2026 at 2:00 pm (CST) in the Administration Office at the beginning of the Building & Grounds Committee meeting.  The Committee plans to make a recommendation to approve a bid to the Board at a Special Board meeting on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 5:00 pm.   See our District Policy 3306 - Construction Bidding for more details.
