Safety Advisory - chemical odor update
Dear Wykon Parents & Staff,
We want to provide you with an update on today’s school closure, which was done out of an abundance of caution.
The chemical items in question that were creating the odor have been removed from the lower level of the Middle & High School by our local Fire Department right after we dismissed our students.
The issue has been resolved. Initial air quality tests were conducted with all readings within the normal range and they continue to read within the normal range. We will continue to monitor air quality tonight and early again tomorrow morning.
The safety and security of your child is our top priority. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused for you. We are thankful for the collaboration and assistance from our local Fire Dept., Law Enforcement, and Iron County Emergency Manager.
We will conduct school tomorrow with regular school hours. If anything changes, we will let you know.
Sincerely,
Kevin Schmutzler, Superintendent
